Residencies
In our central Newcastle studios we regularly host artists in residence. We support artists whose practice aligns with our values and interests through partnership projects and open calls.
Our residences take an artist-centred approach to build care, trust and empathy. They give artists space and time for creativity in a safe and welcoming environment. Artists are encouraged to develop their ideas through a process of research and dialogue, with freedom to embrace the unplanned or unknown, adapt and work at their own pace; we call this 'research as practice.'
D6’s team is always on hand to give support on all aspects of the residency. Artists are invited to communal meals in D6’s welcoming kitchen space, which is often a place to gather to share practice and ideas.
Each residency is tailored to the artist’s need. This can include:
We also give support in developing and sharing work for digital audiences. You can see some of these projects on our Gallery pages.
