We work with extraordinary artists to question cultural narratives and raise environmental awareness. We develop our work with artists over time, responding to their practice and areas of interest. This can include international and local collaborations with partners, residencies based in our studios in Newcastle, and commissions. Our work with artists goes back over 30 years and you can see our artists archive here. Here are the artists currently working with us:
Volt Agapeyev is a multidisciplinary artist based in Kyiv. In his works, Volt draws attention to the process of amorphisation of the boundaries between human consciousness, technology and nature. He is taking part in (Re)Grounding 2024 with a virtual residency with IZOLYATSIA, which will be follow with his artworks being presented in the (Re)Grounding online exhibition.

Alexandra Clod is an interdisciplinary artist and psychologist, taking part in (Re)Grounding 2024 with a residency at D6:EU in Cyprus. She explores the relationship between personal and collective mythologies, ancient beliefs, rituals and their role today, reflecting on the cyclicality of nature and how it is manifested in human life.

DARIIA DANTSEVADariia Dantseva is a biohacker and interdisciplinary artist. She is one of the artists taking part in (Re)Grounding 2024, with a residency at D6:EU in Cyprus. Her practice is focused on democratising science, exploring the intersection of science and art, popularising 'garage' science, environmental changes, bioart and advocating for bodily autonomy.

PARIA GOODARZI Paria is artist in residence this spring. She explores the formation and representation of identity, often integrating collaborative, participatory and socially engaged artworks.

DAWN FELICIA KNOXD6 Associate Artist Dawn Felicia Knox is a cross-disciplinary artist exploring explore toxicity, remediation and transformation. Her work with us on a Collaborative Doctoral Award in partnership with Northumbria University began in October 2024.

AMAK MAHMOODIAN, PHDAmak Mahmoodian is one of the artists selected for Belonging - a virtual exhibition featuring 11 artists from an open call and being showcased in Cyprus as part the ASSEMBLE programme with D6:EU. She is a D6 Associate Artist.

THAÍS MUNIZThaís Muniz is a visual artist interested in exploring the connections between inherited and acquired identities, memory and inward love. She is developing a body of work for a solo exhibition using different mediums and techniques across textiles, sculptures, installations, performance, photography, film and group workshops.

Paul NatarajPaul Nataraj works with sound, text and recorded archive materials to explore the relationships between memory and sound, with a focus on stories of migration, diaspora and postcolonial identity. He is one of the artists from the North East of England taking part in Contested Desires: Constructive Dialogues.

Patrick NgabonzizaPatrick Ngabonziza explores themes of African traditions and cultural norms, examining their effect on people from the global south who were born or have lived in western communities. He is one of the artists from the North East of England taking part in Contested Desires: Constructive Dialogues.

Lucy NychaiLucy Nychai is a Ukrainian artist and curator. In 2019 she undertook a research residency at D6 and is currently our curator in residence for (Re)Grounding, our partnership with IZOLYATSIA. She is a D6 Associate Artist.

DASHA PODOLTSEVA Dasha Podoltseva is a Ukrainian visual artist and graphic designer. Her work focuses on public space, urban paradoxes, recycling and 'temporary inconvenience'. She is one of the artists selected for (Re)Grounding 2024 having taken part in the virtual residency Grounding - Invasion with IZOLYATSIA last year.

Marisa SatsiaMarisa Satsia is a multidisciplinary artist and researcher specialising in medical and biological arts based in Nicosia, Cyprus. She is also an amateur biotechnologist with a research interest in bio art, DIY biology, molecular gastronomy and soft robotics.

OLEKSANDR SIROUSOleksandr Sirous is a Ukrainian sound and media artist who navigates the complex interplay between new media, game mechanics and socio-political themes in his multidisciplinary artistic practice. He is one of the artists in residence at D6 for (Re)Grounding 2024.

Kate sweeneyKate produces drawing, animation, video works and writing to explore how familial bonds are formed beyond the materials and myths of blood and DNA. Her work utilises moments and materials from the everyday to focus upon the way bodies transfer and share information, feelings and histories. She is a D6 residence artist for Designs on Heritage.

Karolina Uskakovych is a designer, artist and photographer from Ukraine whose practice examines entanglements of nature, culture, and technology. Karolina is one of the artists selected for (Re)Grounding, a programme of research residencies exploring the climate emergency in post-industrial contexts in partnership with IZOLYATSIA, arts producers in Ukraine.

Shirin Zeraaty is a contemporary artist and curator originating from Zahedan in Iran. Currently based in Istanbul, her work explores themes such as language, biography and the interpretation of works within the contexts of nationality, gender and institutional structures. She joined us a curator in residence in August and September 2024.
