Welcoming Paria Goodarzi
We are delighted to welcome Paria Goodarzi as D6's artist in residence.
Paria is an Iranian-born artist and social art practitioner based in Glasgow. Her artistic focus delves into cultural and political transfers, translocations, the contemporary human condition, cultural identity and displacement. Through a multidisciplinary practice, she explores the formation and representation of identity, often integrating collaborative, participatory and socially engaged artworks.
Paria co-founded the art initiative ‘Distanced Assemblage’ with the aim of enhancing the well-being and visibility of individuals from diverse cultural and social backgrounds by providing opportunities to engage with creative practices and cultural organisations.
She is a member of UNESCO Chair Refugee Integration through Languages and the Arts (RILA)'s Affiliated Artist Network and the Young Academy of Scotland. Paria studied Textile Design at the University of Science and Culture in Tehran and Sculpture and Environmental Art at Glasgow School of Art. She has a Masters in Adult Education, Community Development and Youth Work from Glasgow University.
With thanks to support from the Paul Hamlyn Foundation, Arts Council England, the Four Nations International Fund and the Newcastle Culture Investment Fund.
