D6 has a dedicated team of staff and Board members who share a commitment to cultural rights and to the role of the arts in advancing social and environmental justice.
Team members play a vital role in supporting the artists we work with, developing and delivering international programmes, nurturing networks and partnerships, and ensuring the day-to-day running of D6. Through their expertise, care and collaborative approach, they help create the conditions for meaningful artistic development and exchange across local, national and international contexts.

Clymene is a founding member and executive director of D6, where she oversees programme and arts development, focusing on international collaboration and developing a strong international platform for local engagement.

Andrea CarterLead Producer
Andrea is the Lead Producer at D6, where she manages the development and delivery of D6’s artistic programme and audience development strategy.

Matt works with D6 to support the development and delivery of our artistic programme, including technical and logistical support for events, fundraising and marketing.

Helen HoltomCommunications Producer
Helen leads on D6's communications and audience engagement strategy, as well as programme communications across our channels. She is the contact for media and communications enquiries.

Victoria is our Finance Manager and oversees project budgets and all aspects of financial management across our programme, she is also responsible for our governance and policy development.

Current Associate ARtists
Lucy NychaiLucy first joined D6 in 2019 on a research residency from Ukraine and returned to the UK following Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. She has been D6's curator in residence for (Re)Grounding (2022-25) and is a partner with Congress of Cultural Activists in ASSEMBLE.

zizaZiza is an artist of Rwandan heritage based in the North East. Over three years, they have developed Free to Roam through Contested Desires residencies in Chile, Italy and the UK, sharing their research with local and international audiences. The project explores how Western knowledge systems reinforce structures of power.

development Residencies
Development residencies and student placements are a vital and mutually beneficial way D6 supports recent graduates and students with interests in decolonial practice, artistic production, curation and international exchange, who bring new ideas and approaches to our work.
Aisha KhateeBCreative Producer in Residence
Aisha joins D6 on a part time secondment from Sangini, where she works as a Project Coordinator, supporting projects that aim to promote wellbeing in global majority women in South Tyneside using arts methodology practices.
As Producer in Residence, she’s working closely with the Contested Desires programme, she is helping us capture the impact of three years of deep research and collaboration across the residencies. Many of these stories are rooted in local histories shaped by colonialism – often overlooked, unheard, or underrepresented. Together, we’re finding new ways to bring them to light and connect them with wider audiences. Aisha has a BA in Sociology and Visual Arts and Design and an MA from Northumbria University in Creative and Cultural Industries Management. Her research interests include decolonial art history narratives, arts evaluation methods, and the process of knowledge making. |

Dominic SmithFreelance Digital Curator
Dominic is an artist and curator whose practice involves project development through a hands-on, open approach to working with art and technology. He has a Doctorate from Sunderland University that examines the relationship between open source software production methods and collaborative methods employed by artists and curators. Alongside D6, he currently works as associate digital curator with a number of organisations and galleries including Helix Arts and Queens Hall Arts, developing innovative digital arts programmes.

Clive JacksonFreelance Media Consultant
Clive Jackson is an artist and media expert. He started his company Loop to offer support, training and consultancy to artists & media organisations based in the North East. We have worked with Clive for several years to provide customized technical support and training to staff and visiting artists.

Marek has worked with D6 for over 10 years, developing both content and the technical capacity of our inflatable touring space, the Big M. Marek has led a number of European tours, supporting the development of many varied, international partnerships.
