NETWORKS
Our founders and board members are committed to exchanging their wealth of knowledge and richness of their networks that have been built during 27 years of international participation and collaboration. At D6 our engagement in networks goes beyond the building of project partnerships, although that does happen. We join networks to share knowledge and ideas and to multiply the voices that advocate for the value of arts and culture.
Internationally we are members of Culture Action Europe and our Director Clymene sits on the Board of Directors for Res Artis, the international network for artist mobility and artist residency spaces. In Basel in July 2018, we were invited to take part in HERstory, an inaugural meeting of European Women Cultural Leaders, to see if we felt such a network would be useful.
Nationally we are members of the Creative Industries Federation, and back at home we sit on the international sub-committee of the North East Cultural Partnership and Clymene has recently taken on the role of Chair of International Newcastle, a platform of municipal, academic, civil society and cultural partners supporting Internationalism in our city.
It seems a lot when we say it out loud. But the reality is each one feeds a particular interest, an area of professional practice or visibility. In the current economic climate it is particularly important that those in the arts sector champion the contribution that the arts make to society and provide opportunities for organisations and artists to come together to share knowledge and practice. At D6 this is our CPD and we can think of none better.
