Majd Suliman
Majd Suliman is one of the artists selected for Belonging - a new virtual exhibition that is part of our residency programme Artists Connecting in Transition (ACT).
As an artist who moved to Germany from Aleppo, Majd's work is a reflection of his ongoing journey to find his place in a new society. While in Aleppo, he found solace in painting; in Germany he finds himself building machines and using technology in a nod to the country’s renowned engineering and technological advancements. Yet, his use of technology is not simply a celebration of German expertise, but rather a wry commentary on the ironies of cultural assimilation. Through his machines, he delves into the complexities of finding one’s identity in a foreign land, and offers a unique perspective on the immigrant experience in a country that is often seen as the epitome of efficiency and progress.
