Jordan: artist Residency and capacity building
An important part of Artists Connecting in Transition (ACT) is learning from the partners and artists involved to find ways to better address the challenges of artistic practice in exile. MedeArts in Irbid, Jordan hosted our first capacity building workshop and created a fantastically rich programme, taking in visits to cultural spaces in Irbid and Amman.
Local cultural practitioners and producers based in Irbid - many whom have been forcibly displaced or who are working with artists in exile - joined for a rich discussion with ACT partners and artists - joining in person or on Zoom from Turkey and the UK.
Selected artists Hescham Karschan and Mohammed Bitar began their artist residencies at MedeArts. They shared the development of their work so far during the workshops.
