Thank you for supporting our ukraine fund

May 2022 - update

Huge thank you for donating to our Ukraine campaign. Your generosity enabled us to exceed our target several times over to raise £3,080. Since the appeal closed, the funds have been allocated towards urgent and essential supplies, such as medical items, food and equipment, to ensure people taking refuge in the art shelter have comfortable temporary accommodation in times of great upheaval.

The words from Liudmyla Nychai in Ukraine say it best:

We are artists with families and we are still in Ukraine. Thanks to your support we resist aggression and try to save lives. We lost a lot of material things from the start of this war, but at the same time, we gained much more - real friends and like-minded people. Thank you very much for being with us.  We do not know how long we should stay in the residence - our art shelter, but we are confident that we will be able to continue to fight on the information front, create art and simply provide living conditions. Your donation will help us focus on building a new life during the war.

February 2022

As the horror of the war in Ukraine unfolds, people are finding ways to help.  We want to help too.

For us at D6 we are focussing on an amazing collective that we first met seven years ago, and with whom we have had exchanges and residencies here in the UK.

Based in the West and away from the direct conflict, the Congress of Cultural Activists  is supporting artists and their families and offering direct help to many more.  They have turned an artists residency space into  emergency accommodation, which is housing families who have fled war torn cities.  Physically and psychologically it's hard, and now supplies are running low.

We've created a fund to directly support the collective’s emergency programme - to buy food, baby milk and nappies among other things and to provide shelter and wider support to people seeking safe passage.

Please take a look and consider donating on our  JustGiving page.  We'd love to exceed our target and are hugely grateful to all those who have contributed so far.

Thank you, the D6 team
