The ACCELERATOR programme
This programme is led by Julie’s Bicycle in partnership with Arts Council England.
D6: Culture in Transit is participating in The Accelerator Programme, an 18-month process of training, mentoring and peer support supporting our thinking, policies and actions around sustainable practice. We are delighted to be one of the UK cultural organisations participating in this learning experience.
D6 is part of a North based consortium with And Other Stories (Sheffield, UK) and BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art (Gateshead, UK) exploring the environmental sustainability challenge around mobility and transnational connectivity. We aim to unpick the value of international exchange alongside recognising the need to lower carbon footprints, whilst ensuring we do not reinforce global inequalities.
We will research and test new ideas around international cooperation, exchange and mobility and think deeply about the meaning and value of degrowth in the arts.
This is one of many areas of focus in response to the environmental sustainability challenge. Julie’s Bicycle will share insights with peers and the wider arts sector throughout the process.
At D6 this learning experience will enable a more sustainable and effective practice, contributing to a more conscientious future for our societies and planet.
