Tania is part of the British Council’s Geographic Directorate, where she works as Regional Manager East Asia and the Americas, providing strategic leadership to the overseas network. Tania was previously covering Europe, Wider Europe and Middle East North Africa, where she managed stakeholder relationships with the FCDO, supported government-to-government strategic dialogue sessions, and played an instrumental role in guiding colleagues through high stakes security and geo-political crises, including in Ukraine. She led on equality, diversity and inclusion for the team, with a particular focus on decolonisation and anti-racism, and sat on a cross-sector anti-racism action plan board.
Prior to this, Tania was Cities Programmes Lead at the British Council, with a varied portfolio of multi-million pound global projects. She designed and led on the inception round of the British Council’s flagship Creative Commissions for COP26 and worked closely with cities across England on developing their international strategies for culture (e.g. Newcastle and Liverpool City Region) and internationalising major events and projects (e.g. Hull and Coventry City of Culture, Transforming Narratives in Birmingham).
Before joining the British Council, Tania worked for the Science Museum Group where she led the partner programme for Manchester Science Festival. She was northern fundraiser for educational charity Teach First, and worked in income generation roles at multi-arts venue The Lowry and Contact theatre, which specialises in working with young people.
She is also a Trustee of Unlimited Theatre.
Tania lives in Morpeth, Northumberland and loves cooking, exploring the great outdoors and spending time with her family.
