Ros Rigby was the founding director, with musician Alistair Anderson, of Folkworks, for whose trailblazing work as producers, presenters and educators in folk and traditional music she was awarded the OBE in 1999. Folkworks, with Northern Sinfonia, was a founding partner of the music venue Sage Gateshead, where in 2001 Ros was appointed Performance Programme Director. She stepped down from this full time role in July 2016, and since then has undertaken freelance work and board memberships.
Ros joined the Board of the North-East Culture Partnership at its formation in 2013 going on to chair the Steering Group for the development of the Case for Culture for the North East of England, formally launched in July 2015. She was re-elected to the NECP Board in 2017.
Ros was elected to the Board of Europe Jazz Network in 2011, a EU funded network of 140 festivals, clubs and national organisations working across 35 countries in Europe. She was elected as President in 2014 and re-elected for a second term in 2016. She joined the Board of the Jazz Promotion Network (for the UK and Ireland) in June 2018.
Closer to home, Ros is a board member of The Land of Oak & Iron, raising the profile of the history and natural resources of the Derwent Valley where she has lived for over 30 years.
