Lucy (Liudmyla) Nychai - Research residency

D6 welcomed Ukrainian artist and curator Liudmyla Nychai to our region to undertake a research residency with us in 2019.

Liudmyla was in residence with us from 1-17 November, travelling from NVAIR, an artist residency space in Travneve, a rural village in the Ternopil region of western Ukraine. NVAIR promotes local community development and artistic projects with young Ukrainian artists. Whilst she has been here we have shared methodologies and approaches to artist residencies and production. Sharing with, and learning from Liudmyla has been a valuable experience and we have already started to plot future collaborations.

Liudmyla’s visit to the UK was supported through iPortunus, a pilot mobility programme funded by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union.  I-Portunus will reopen for artists and cultural freelancers early in 2020.
