We're seeking new members to join our Board of Directors to support our programme that connects the local to the international and considers our place in the changing world.
We work with extraordinary artists, communities and partners to produce visual arts projects locally and internationally. We are continuing to expand our international programme of residencies, research, exhibitions and events from our base in Newcastle-upon-Tyne (UK).
If you have a deep interest in the visual arts and believe in culture’s ability to connect different people and ideas, we welcome your application for this role of board member.
More about the role
We are looking for up to three people to join our current Board of Directors. It is important to us that our Board reflects the diversity of the community we are based in and the wider communities we work with.
We are looking for people with an interest in or who would like learn more about the issues we explore in our work: cultural rights and social justice, heritage and decolonisation, and environmental justice.
We are particularly keen to find new members with local or international experience in these areas:
We welcome applications from individuals at all career stages, with a range of backgrounds and lived experiences. Ideal candidates will have a connection to the North East, and/or be able and willing to travel to board meetings and events, although those with relevant skills and experience will be considered.
This is an unpaid post. The initial term will be for three years, with the Board meeting approximately every three months and occasional additional meetings when required.

- Cultural and voluntary sector management
- Migration and mobility (rights, access and advocacy)
- Legal experience from the private, public or charitable sectors
- Finance expertise with practical experience of producing management or statutory accounts, and ideally knowledge of the not-for-profit and charitable sectors
