dima karout
We welcomed Dima Karout to the D6 studio throughout May 2021, as lockdown restrictions began to ease.
Dima is an art curator, practitioner and creative director currently based in London. She is passionate about art and its potential in allowing ideas to grow, take shape in the material world, and initiate social change. Her work reflects on human journeys and investigates the evolution of identity beyond borders, belonging and the metaphor of home, migration, and the relation between people and places, with a focus on the power of art in times of conflicts.
Whilst in residence, Dima worked on Memory Lines, interweaving memories, journeys, and how cities influence who we are. Her research reflected on her powerful encounters with artworks in different museums and public spaces during her travels to many cities starting in 2005, and the possibilities that art offers in understanding the complexity of personal identity, conflicts and loss.
