Common Ground in the West End of Newcastle
We have been working with artists Lindsay Duncanson, Wideyed Collective and Henna Asikainen and our local partner the CHAT Trust to support communities in the West End of Newcastle reclaim their public spaces as part of our Common Ground Programme.
With groups of young Roma people based at the CHAT Trust, we supported a series of Reclaim the Lanes events, which took place in the back lanes of the West End and supported the local community to reclaim their public spaces. We brought a range of arts activities to animate the back lanes, including large-format photography with Wideyed Collective; giant cyanotype making with Lindsay Duncanson; and foraging and garland making with Henna Asikainen in the lead up to 'Forage'.
