announcing contested desires

D6: Culture in Transitis delighted to announce that our Cooperation Project CONTESTED DESIRES has been selected for the next round of Creative Europe Funding. The programme will begin September 2019 and will be taking place across six different countries, using co-operation and the co-production to address the authenticity and values of the colonial heritage that we share.

CONTESTED DESIRES will use contemporary visual arts as a tool to explore our shared colonial histories and the impact this has had on our understanding of European Culture. It will be a platform for discussion and learning, production and exhibition, revealing the complex and deep-rooted reverberations of colonisation, occupation and annexation.  By working with partners ECCOM (IT), Xarkis (CY), LAC (PT), La Bonne (FR) and Fresh Milk (BB), whose cultures have also been shaped by colonisation, we will uncover the untold markers of identity and belonging, and the contesting desires that define and redefine our heritage.
