3D Karaoke
G.H. Hovagimyan's interactive artwork 3D Karaoke was presented by D6 and Pixel Palace at the NewBridge Project Space as part of Convention Habit or Custom in April 2013, during his residency with D6 and Newcastle Gateshead Initiative (NGI).
3D Karaoke is an interactive artwork that uses two Kinect cameras to create a live 3D video. The singer is placed in the 3D space as song lyrics float across the screen. The 3D space has a fly around virtual camera that can be set on automatic or manipulated to show various angles. The sensation of seeing oneself in 3D space is similar to 'throwing your voice', and in this case you are in two places at once. The work was developed at Pixel Palace and Tyneside Cinema as part of an artist residency programme in 2012.
Convention Habit or Custom is a project by Toby Wilson and Andrew Lloyd which took place in 2013. To explore the complexities of our conventions, habits and customs Lloyd and Wilson constructed a hospitable environment loosely based upon the Public House with a programme of scheduled and un-scheduled events from a diverse spectrum of individuals, groups and collectives.
G.H. Hovagimyan lives in New York City. He is an experimental artist working in a variety of forms. He was one of the first artists in New York to start working with the Internet in the early nineties.
