DOMINIC SMITH
Dominic is an artist based in the North East of England. His practice includes moving image, critical digital media and narrative investigative formats. We recently commissioned Dominic to create The Volunteers for Mural, based on an interview with the Quartermaster of Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade. It is also an autobiographical moment where he shares recent investigations into the richness and heritage of the North East Coast.
Dominic is currently working with us as a digital curator to support the development of our digital programme, which included CORNERS Live, an exiting hybrid online platform comprising a 24/7 radio broadcast, a longform visual storytelling platform and a live blog, and Mural.
Dominic also joined D6 for a research residency in 2007 to work on Invisible Soap Opera. Dominic built a small virtual private network, invitations were sent out to join the network and participants encouraged to communicate. Several actors also joined the server involving the other in an act of 'invisible theatre'.
