dima karout

 We welcomed Dima Karout to the D6 studio throughout May 2021, as lockdown restrictions began to ease. 

Dima is a visual artist and Creative Director currently based in London. She is passionate about contemporary art and its potential in allowing ideas to grow, take shape in the material world, and initiate social change. Her work reflects on human journeys and investigates the evolution of identity beyond borders, belonging and the metaphor of home, migration, displacement and the relation between people and places, with a focus on the power of art in times of conflicts. 

Whilst in residence, Dima worked on interweaving memories, journeys, and how cities influence who we are. She reflected on her powerful encounters with artworks in different museums and public spaces during her travels to many cities starting in 2005, and the possibilities that art offers in understanding the complexity of personal identity, conflicts and loss.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Dima has recently been implementing contemporary art projects within institutions, developing alternative learning programmes, and curating exhibitions, publications and cultural events. She has worked on projects with The British Museum, Shakespeare’s Globe, The Migration Museum, The Arab British Centre, RADA, and Groundwork London among many more. 


Dima is also a D6 associate artist, helping to guide our programme through in depth discussion and conversations. ​
