EXHIBITION TOUR | Wednesday 23 July, 2025, 11:00 - 12:00

Who is this for?
This relaxed exhibition tour welcomes anyone with lived experience of seeking sanctuary in the North East or newcomers to the area, and members of the Sanctuary and Culture Network.

Please be aware the content of the exhibition touches on challenging issues and some of the artworks may not be suitable for children. 

What to expect? 
The Contested Desires exhibition presents the art works of seven artists who reveal the untold stories of Europe’s colonial legacies. It is part of a large cultural project exposing the problematic legacy of European colonisation found in museums and heritage sites. 

Number of places: there are 30 spaces. Please email [email protected] if you would like to attend.

Travel: the museum is situated a five minute walk from Haymarket Bus Station and ten minutes from Eldon Square Bus Station. The nearest metro is Haymarket.

We will reimburse travel costs for public transport within Tyne & Wear (please bring a copy of your travel receipt).
