artists at D6
We work with extraordinary artists, supporting them to create exceptional work and drive social change through creativity and solidarity.
The journeys we embark on with artists are collaborative, fostering new connections and creating opportunities for growth and development. This includes residencies based in our studios in Newcastle, as well as international residencies with partners.
We encourage artists to develop their ideas through research, experimentation and dialogue, with the freedom to embrace the unexpected, adapt to new discoveries and work at their own pace. We describe this approach as research as practice. By prioritising the development of ideas and artistic practice over short-term engagement, we create the conditions for deeper exploration and lasting impact. You can read more about our artist-centred approach to residencies here.
Our work with artists spans more than 30 years. You can explore this history in our Artists Archive.
