We are D6: Culture in Transit, an international visual arts producer based in the North of England. We empower visual artists and collaborators to create exceptional artwork and drive positive change through creativity and solidarity.
With more than a 30 year history of co-producing major art programmes, we connect the UK to the rest of the world through innovative collaborations, powerful ideas and meaningful engagement.
By finding common ground on issues of social and environmental justice, we develop programmes that give artists the time and space to work through complex subjects and build community through practice. We engage a diverse range of collaborators, including creative practitioners, community participants, cultural and civil society and academics.
In 2020, we launched D6EU, our sister NGO based in Cyprus, and through the work of both organisations expand international networks and initiate new models of collaboration with, by and for artists. We are also proactive in advocating for cultural rights, artistic freedom, and sustainable international collaboration across the North East of England and beyond.
At D6, we believe that art can inspire understanding, challenge inequality and help build a more just future. Our Theory of Change maps out how we aspire to make this change.
