D6: culture in transit
Picture

Satoko Nagashima

While Satoko was in residence at D6 she is carried out research to create a new series of paintings and digital animations. Her work explores the difference between Japanese and English culture and the tradition of using colour to embed pattern and meaning. Satoko’s adapts characters from Japanese language and traditional colour systems to create collages with double entendres, which explores the form of the word as well as their literal and historical interpretation.
